What does it mean to be a citizen of Houston? Houston is an area so rich and diverse in culture that it’s hard to imagine not fitting in here. Walking down the streets you might hear over 90 different languages being spoken. Of course, being so steeped in culture and history, there are museums and events always going on throughout the city so no matter what your interests are, you’re sure to find a way to celebrate, explore and learn.
It’s no secret that Houstonians love the variety of food in the area. Houston residents eat out more than any other citizens in the country, but then there are over 11,000 restaurants to choose from.
A great deal of our population are young adults, and that leads to a solid and growing economy and good long term real estate growth in Houston. The price of living is just about right – not at all high. Imagine living in a city with a theater scene that very nearly rivals New York, a nightlife Los Angeles would be jealous with home prices at a much more reasonable level – what’s not to love about Houston?
Education
When it comes to education there are not many schools to send your children that are better than Houston area schools. No matter what you want to include in your child’s education you can find the right school in the right neighborhood in Houston. We’re home to countless magnate schools that specialize in a certain area – like health professions, science or performing arts. There are many schools that offer education with a religious background as well as a wide range of private schools. Many of the schools in the Houston Independent School District and the other 16 school districts in the city are award winning schools of excellence.
Houston is home to more than sixty institutions of higher education including the University of Houston. UH is ranked in the top tier of U.S. News & World Report’s Top 100 Law schools in the country. Houston’s Rice University is ranked in the same report’s top overall universities in the country.
